Six Things You Didn't Know About VersiPOS

Technology is transforming how restaurants operate and thrive. An industry that was once slow to adopt technology and digital solutions is now turning to the latest innovations to improve operations and the customer experience. As one of the leading restaurant technology companies, VersiTech aims to provide solutions that make growing and managing your restaurant easy.

To ensure you're getting the most out of our platform, we've compiled six things you may be unaware you can do with VersiPOS. These are the features you can't afford to miss.

1. Stand-In Mode

We're all too familiar with pesky technical difficulties that can bring your operations to a halt. If your internet goes down, VersiPOS's stand-in mode feature keeps you up and running. It allows you to continue taking credit payments without an internet connection by storing the card details offline.

Once the internet is restored and you close out for the day, VersiPay will run, authorize, and settle cards swiped while in stand-in mode. Another benefit of this feature is that the POS system will notify you that you're still operating in stand-in mode every time you attempt to run a card to remind you to turn the feature off once the internet is working properly.

2. Create Useful Macros or Shortcuts

Macros are keyboard shortcuts that can be created on the VersiPOS system. This feature can help you and your staff quickly and easily enter orders by combining multiple requests into a single step or preset. This especially comes in handy when your restaurant is doing an event or experiencing high-volume days running specials or giveaways. For example, if your bar regularly runs a $2 beer special on Fridays, you can create a macro that allows your staff to easily ring up the specially-priced beer, close the order to cash, and open a new check all with one click.

Another scenario where macros are helpful is if your restaurant offers a buy-one-get-one special, where customers receive a free $20 gift card with a $50 gift card purchase. You can create a macro shortcut that automatically rings up the $20 gift card every time a $50 gift card is purchased. Creating macros ensures that your business can operate efficiently by streamlining and accelerating processes and checkouts, which enhances the overall customer experience.

3. Advanced Tabbing

It can be a pain for customers when they leave a restaurant or bar without their debit or credit card. The same goes for your business when customers dine and dash. VersiPOS mitigates these issues with its advanced tabbing feature, which allows your employees to start a tab for the customer and store the card's information. This process also validates the card for general decline errors, as well as ensuring there is money in the account.

Once the card is swiped and information is stored, servers and bartenders can hand the card back to the customer. This secure option prevents patrons from leaving without their cards or without paying. If a customer forgets to close out with you, your staff members can still run the total and close the tab. To make things even easier, the system gives you the ability to automatically include a gratuity amount in the bill. Just make sure you post a disclaimer somewhere your customers can see it.

4. Tip Warnings

VersiPOS can show a warning screen when a tip amount is considered unreasonably high based on predetermined percentage thresholds. These additional layers of controls and preferences can be set and overridden by management. For example, when a tip is entered and considered too high (e.g., 350 percent), the system will flag it and ask if you're sure the amount is correct. Whether this is an error on the customer's or employee's part, this feature helps your business avoid an incident when a customer sees you charged an extra $2555 on their card instead of $25.

5. QR Codes

Consumers value convenience and simplicity in their dining experiences. By printing QR codes on your receipts, customers can quickly and easily pay their tabs by scanning the code with their phones or visiting the URL included on the receipt.

VersiPay Quick Receipt eliminates long waits on both sides, so servers don't have to wait for customers to pay, and customers don't have to wait for servers to return to their tables. It also provides a contactless payment option for customers with COVID concerns who want to limit face-to-face contact. As an added benefit, when customers pay using the QR codes, the POS updates in real time, helping servers keep track of closed tabs.

6. Prevent Underage Drink Purchases

Underage drinking can be a big problem for you and your business. As a business owner, it's essential to ensure that alcohol isn't served to minors; our platform can help prevent that. VersiPOS makes this task easier by allowing your staff to quickly verify a customer's age through ID scanning or swiping. ID scans are logged, which protects your business in the long run, should a problem arise.

VersiTech's suite of products offers several features and benefits to optimize your front-of-house and back-office operations. If you're running a restaurant or bar, features such as advanced tabbing, QR codes, and terminal shortcuts will help you and your staff provide the best possible service to your customers and keep them coming back for more.
